Their webmail works fine, and when this account is added to the Windows Mail app, everything works perfectly. These are the common reasons why the IMAP folder is not syncing. To resolve the IMAP issue, I will explain different solutions in the upcoming section of the article. It's just a little bit technical, but we have an IMAP proxy that chooses from some different backend IMAP servers. If the user account ends up on an old IMAP server implementation (in that case f.i. a Cyrus imapd 2.4.17), IMAP Client of iOS 18 Mail app doesn't work. If the proxy directs requests to a newer IMAP server implementation (f.i Cyrus imapd 3.6.1), the iOS 18 Mail app works as expected, even the requests are handled by the same IMAP server proxy.

Why IMAP Folder is Not Properly Syncing?
|

My VPN was working in the background, even though the file was closed. That means that Mail app fully connected to server , asked for statuses, but not [Reset Cached Exchange mode](https://cbaaacademy.com/2025/11/the-heart-of-the-internet-31/) displaying anything. Furthermore, when calendar invites are accepted using the Outlook client, they disappear from All Mail and go into the Trash folder, but when using WebMail, they remain in the Inbox. I [inbox repair tool alternative](https://body-positivity.org/groups/repair-an-office-application-539254341/) have seen this disparity for years across different Outlook client versions and Windows versions. I also posted on the Gmail subreddit about a year ago. After instalation ios 18 all my accounts in mail app stopped to sync( including icloud mail). I can only recive mails but when I delete mails on macbook they are not deleted on iphone. If an IMAP Inbox isn't displaying new messages as they arrive at the server, but only when the Inbox is selected, there is something wrong with the setup.

IMAP folder sync issue in the new Outlook (moved emails not syncing to webmail)

These methods help you in the synchronization process. If this does not work, you can contact your email provider. After that, it is also important to secure your IMAP folder to prevent this issue from happening in the future. So, properly follow the above steps and backup your data from IMAP folders. When you right-click one of the folders that doesn't show new mail unless you select it, Properties, is the box 'When getting new messages... It's usually not checked by default for IMAP to minimize network traffic.

See the attached picture for the Properties window for a user-created folder.I also posted on the Gmail subreddit about a year ago. This anomaly also occurs when using the hosting system (first type), using different names for inbound and outbound servers.I also noticed that some IMAP settings — like the root folder path (e.g. "INBOX") — are not available in the new Outlook, which makes troubleshooting more difficult.I would suggest that frequent changes to folder contents on multiple devices will make it go wrong.I’ve never heard of setting a path before for email, so apologies if this is a simple solution to those who come across this in the future.

I am also running QuickFolders and its the same nothing shows up on those tabs until i physically click on them. Ok so my mistake the Properties option is there when right [Outlook Stuck on Synchronizing Folders](https://phoebe.roshka.com/gitlab/stephenchau50) clicking folder - I was only focused on right clicking on the email address to take me to server setting I was not clicking on the actual folder. I right click a folder and Properties and it take me to attached windows. I don't see - 'When getting new messages...
